László Krasznahorkai
Biography
László Krasznahorkai was born in 1954 in Gyula. His father was a lawyer and his mother worked in the social security administration. He studied law in Szeged and at the Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest and then Hungarian language and literature at the Eötvös Loránd University. He became an independent writer with the success of Sátántangó (Sátántango) and he has gone on to receive critical acclaim for his work. Several of his novels have been filmed by Béla Tarr. He has travelled extensively and now lives in Berlin.
