Biography

Daniela Hodrova was born in 1946 in Prague. She was both the daughter of a film and stage actor and the granddaughter of two film and stage actors. After school, she worked as an assistant stage director and then studied Russian, Bohemian, Romance, and comparative literature at Charles University. After taking a doctorate, she worked for a publishing house and then for the Institute of Czech literature, of the Academy of Sciences (prior to 1993 known as the Institute of Czech and World Literature of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences), where she was a Senior Researcher.

She has written several works of fiction, to which t two have been published in English. She died in 2024.
