Literatura basura (Trash literature)
Founded by Mexican writer Guillermo Fadanelli, literatura basura rejects literary niceties, good taste and, the academization of literature. Inspired by John Waters, its trademarks are absurdity, lots of action, pornography, the author’s particular obsession and the schizophrenia of the consumer in the modern market place. A manifesto was issued by Fadanelli and Naief Yehya and published in the magazine Pus Moderna in 1989. It seems to have more or less faded away into Dirty Realism.
