Biography
Anna Lidia Vega Serova was born in 1968 in Leningrad. Ger father was Cuban and her mother Russian/Ukrainian. Soon after her birth, the family moved to Cuba. However in 1977 her parents divorced and Serova and her mother returned to the Soviet Union. She kept in touch with her father but only returned to Cuba when she was twenty-one. She had to relearn Spanish as she had been using Russian. She started writing stories, translated from Russian to Spanish. She won a story-writing competition.
After the fall of the Soviet Union, things were hard in Cuba. She wrote short stories as they were more popular than novels but also took up painting and planned to become a painter.
, not least because of the shortage of paper and ink. While continuing to write short stories, she has also written poetry and two novels.
