Miloš Urban
Biography
Miloš Urban was born in 1957 in Sokolov. He grew up partially in the Czechoslovak embassy in London. He studied modern philology at the Department of Nordic and English Studies at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, including spending a year studying at Oxford University. After graduation, he went to work for publisher Mladá fronta, where he won a prize for his translation of Julian Barnes’ Flaubert’s Parrot. subsequently worked for the Argo publishing house which published many of his novels.
He has since had a successful career and has been a novelist short story writer and playwright. Two of his novels have been published in English. He is also translated other books from English into Czech.
Not to be confused with the Slovak writer Milo Urban.
