Biography

IvaPekarkova, was born in 1963 in Prague. She studied microbiology and virology aty.Charles University. Shortly before finishing her studies, she emigrated to Austria and stayed for ten months in a refugee camp near Vienna. She then emigrated to the United States and was based near Boston working with an organisation helping Czech refugees. She then moved to New York where she worked various jobs including as a social worker and taxi driver.She then moved to New York where she worked various jobs including as a social worker and taxi driver.

She then moved to Thailand and again worked in a refugee camp.camp. After spending some time in India, she moved back to Prague where she has worked as an editor, translator and writer. She has written several novels, Three of which have been translated into English.
