Petra Procházková

Biography

Petra Procházková was born Petra Svábová in 1964 in Český Brod. She studied journalism at Charles University in Prague. She worked for various publications and then became a foreign correspondent in Russia, reporting from war zones such asAbkhazia. She set up a press agency with a colleague and they reported from various war zones such asChechnya, Ossetia and Afghanistan, using filmed reports. She even reported from East Timor. However, her main interest was Chechnya and she took time off of her reporting to carry out humanitarian work inGrozny.. The Russians declared her persona non grata nd she had to leave the country.

Her first husband was Czech but she later married an Ingush man. She later married an Afghani.

She has written books about her reporting which she was also written one novel which has been translated into English.
