Massa Makan Diabaté
Massa Makan Diabaté was born in Kita in 1938. He came from a family of griots. He trained as a griot before going to French school. He later studied in Guinea and then in Paris, where he worked for UNESCO. He wrote plays for the theatre as well as novels. He died in 1988.
