Rodrigo Hasbún

Biography

Rodrigo Hasbún was born in Cochabamba in 1981. At high school he was in a grunge band and claims this influenced his writing. He started writing towards the end of his time in college. He studied journalism at university and then spent a year in Chile with his grandparents and did a post-graduate course in Barcelona. His first story collection appeared in 2006 and one of the stories was made into a film. His first novel appeared in 2007. In 2009 he did a doctorate at Cornell University. He has gone on to write further stories and novels. He was selected as 39 Best Latin American writers under the age of 39.
