Roberto Drummond

Biography

Roberto Drummonda was born in 1933 in Belo Horizonte. The family moved around. He initially worked as a journalist, starting in Belo Horizonte, before working for a brief time in Rio de Janeiro. He returned to Belo Horizonte and took up writing, having success with his first novel A morte de D.j. em Paris. He went on to write more novels, having his greatest success with Hilda Furacão (Hilda Hurricane). He continued to present sports on television and was a keen supporter of the football team Clube Atlético Mineiro. He died of heart problems in 2002, on the day Brazil beat England in the World Cup.
