Jorge Marchant Lazcano

Biography

Jorge Marchant Lazcano was born in Santiago in 1950. Though brought up in a conservative family, he started to change when he went to study journalism at the University of Chile. He started writing for magazines and then wrote soap operas for Chilean television, meanwhile writing novels and plays. He obtained fame both for these works and for being including in My Deep Dark Pain Is Love, an anthology of gay Latin American writing. None of his novels has been published in English.
