Biography

Nino Haratischwili (also called Nino Haratischvili) was born in Tbilisi in 1983. She was interested in theatre from a young age and wrote plays for a local theatre group. She later studied both film and theatre directing, the latter in Hamburg. She became very involved in theatre in Germany, writing and directing. In 2010 she wrote her first novel, Juja, which made the longlist of the German Book Prize. She has since written several prize-winning novels, as well as plays. Das achte Leben (The Eighth Life) is her first book in English.
