Dritëro Agolli
Biography
Dritëro Agolli was born in Menkulas, Albania in 1931. He finished school in Gjirokastër, home town of Ismail Kadare and Enver Hoxha. He continued his studies at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Leningrad. On returning to Albania, he worked as journalist and was also a member of the Albanian parliament. Much of his work was poetry, particularly his early work, though he did write novels, including novels dealing with partisans. He also wrote short stories. He founded his own publishing company, Dritëro Publishing Company. He died in 2017.
