Cezar Petrescu

Biography

Cezar Petrescu was born in 1892 in Cotnari, Iaşi County. His father was an engineer. After studying law, he became a journalist and was prolific writer, attempting to write a Romanian Comédie humaine in the Balzac style. He wrote novels, short stories, plays, children’s literature, works on education, travel notes and memoirs. He also founded several literary magazines. He died in 1961.
