Biography

Maryna and Serhiy Dyachenko were a married couple who wrote novels in Russian. Maryna, (née Shirshova), was born in 1968 in Kyiv and Serhiy was born in 1945, also in Kyiv. Serhiy Dyachenko graduated from Kyiv Medical Institute and worked as a psychiatrist before becoming a screenwriter. , Maryna graduated from the Theatre Institute of Kyiv and worked as an actress. They have written many books togather in a genre called M-realism, though they have never explained what the M stands for, possibly magic or Maryna. Serhiy writes strong plots while Maryna creates beautiful aethereal worlds. They initially lived in Kyiv and then moved to Russia, and subsequently to California. Serhiy died in 2022.
