Biography
Oksana Lutsyshyna was born in 1974 in Uzhhorod. She graduated from the Faculty of Romano-Germanic Philology of Uzhhorod State University and then did an internship at the University of Kansas. She worked as a teacher of foreign languages (English and French). She entered the master’s programme at the University of South Florida, where she did a her master’s – a comparative study of the novels of Oksana Zabuzhko and the Algerian French-speaking author Assia Jebar. At the University of Georgia in she did a doctorate on Bruno Schulz. She started writing poems in high school, with her first poem being published in a newspaper. Her poems were later published in book form. She has since written other poems and novels. One novel and a book of poetry have been published in English.
