Biography

The blurb on the cover of his first book says succinctly Frédéric Werst was born in 1970 and that he lives in Paris. We also know that he teaches in a French school. In an interview, when asked who he was, he replied S’il m’intéressait de parler de moi-même, j’écrirais de l’autofiction [If I wanted to talk about myself, I would write autofiction]. Hooray for him, I say. He is known (at least in France) because, in 2011, he stunned the French literary world by producing a book written in Wardwesân. Don’t worry if you have not heard of Wardwesân. It is a language invented by West for the people of his now two novels on the country of Ward, which he has invented.
