Javier Calvo was born in Barcelona in 1973. He graduated in journalism from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and then studied comparative literature at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He has written short stories and novels, often using modern techniques such as mash-ups, sampling, cinema-style editing and quotes from other novels. He is associated with the Nocilla generation. He has also worked in the cinema and translated various English-language novels into Spanish.
