Félix de Azúa

Biography

De Azúa was born in Barcelona in 1944, so grew up in the Franco era. He is considered a Renaissance man – he is a professor of esthetics, has written extensively on both art and music, is a translator of Diderot, Beckett and Nabokov, an accomplished poet and essayist, as well as being a novelist. He is best known in English for his novel Diario de un hombre humillado (Diary of a Humiliated Man), a story of a mediocre man drifting round Barcelona, experimenting with sex’n’drugs’n’rock’n’roll and the only one of his works to be translated into English.
