Carlos Rojas

Biography

Carlos Rojas was born in Barcelona in 1928. His father was a doctor. He was the nephew of the President of Colombia, Gustavo Rojas Pinilla. He studied literature and philosophy at the University of Madrid where he took a Ph. D. He has had an illustrious career as a professor of literature, including at Rollins University in Florida, Glasgow and Emory University, in the United States, where he worked till he retired. His literary work, including novels and essays, particularly on the Civil War and art, was extensive but only four of his works have been translated into English and not many more into other languages, so he is little known outside Spain. In addition to being a writer, he is also a collage artist.
