Satendra Nandan

Biography

Satendra Nandan was born in Nadi in 1940. He studied in Britain, India and Australia and obtained a Ph. D. in Australia, writing on Patrick White. He became a teacher and was made a professor at the University of the South Pacific. He entered politics and briefly became minister for health. After the 1987 coup, he emigrated to Australia, where he continued to teach. He later returned to Fiji to teach at the newly established University of Fiji. He was rumoured as a possible vice-presidential candidate.
