Faarax Cawl
Biography
Faarax Cawl was born in 1937 in Laskory in the Sanaag Region of Somalia. After education in Somalia he won a scholarship to study motor engineering in London. On returning to Somalia he worked as a technical instructor and then a police officer. His novel, Aqoondarro waa u nacab jacayl (Ignorance is the Enemy of Love), was the first full-length novel to be published in the country. He was killed in 1991 during the civil unrest in the Hiiraan Region.
