Valeria Luiselli

Biography

Valeria Luiselli was born in Mexico City in 1983. Her father was a diplomat, the first Mexican ambassador to South Africa. Luiselli met Nelson Mandela at the time. She studied philosophy at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and then comparative literature at Columbia University. She has since lived in New York City with her husband, the novelist, Alvaro Enrigue.
