Biography

Krisztina Toth was born in 1967 in Budapest. Her mother was a goldsmith and her father a graphic artists. She learned French at school. She attenndedThe Secondary School of Fine and Applied Arts, majoring in sculpture. She started writing early and won a prize for her poetry. After graduating, she worked as an intern at the National Museum for a year, then enrolled at the Faculty of Humanities at Eötvös Loránd University. She interrupted her studies to go to Paris, where she did odd jobs before getting a scholarship and translating French poets into Hungarian. She returned home and graduated and earned a teaching degree. After the birth of her son, she went freelance, including writing children’s stories. After her divorce, she earned money by making stained glass. |She niw lives in Switzerland with her partner, having had to leave Hungary because of political persecution.
