Eugene Vodolazkin

Biography

Eugene Vodolazkin was born in Kyiv in 1964. He studied philology at the Taras Shevchenko University in Kiev. He then went to graduate school at Institute of Russian Literature of the USSR Academy of Sciences (Pushkin House) where he wrote a dissertation on the translation of the Byzantine Chronicles of George Hamartolos. He has continued to work at Pushkin House, specialising in ancient Russian manuscripts. He has written several novels
