Vasily Golovanov (his first name may also be spelled Vasili, Vasilli or Vassili) was born in Moscow in 1960. His father was the journalist Yaroslav Golovanov. He studied journalism and worked as a journalist in Moscow. His first book was about Makhno, the Ukrainian revolutionary. He has since written several books of fiction and travel, using a geopoetical approach.
