Najat El Hachmi
Biography
Najat El Hachmi was born in Nador in Morocco in 1979. She moved with her family to Vich, Catalonia when she was eight. She studied Arab philology at the University of Barcelona. Her first book was called Jo també sóc catalana [I Also Am Catalan], written in Catalan, about how she and her family integrated into Catalonia. She had a variety of jobs before becoming a full-time writer.
